When I was about 5 years old, my mom used to send me and my sister to Geeta Auntys' house to learn how to paint. Geeta Aunty was about 50 years old and both her kids had moved to another city to study, so every day in the evening she used to teach kids who lived around the block how to paint.
The class was simple; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, at 5 PM my sister and I would pick up our painting kit and go to her house. All the kids, about 8-10 of us, would sit on the floor and paint a painting that Geeta Aunty would show us a picture of. To be honest, I never learned how to paint and I was possibly the most annoying kid in the class. I would paint the sun green and the grass purple, but Geeta Aunty would always tell my mom that I did a great job, and I wouldn't lie, even I thought I did!

Looking back at it, I wondered why my mom would send me three times a week to Geeta Aunty's house when all I came back with was a green-colored sun!
The answer to this sat right in front of me, when we spoke to the founders of  Yellow Class
  • Creating a schedule: My mom ensured that me and my sister were never late for our class.
  • The social element: There were about 8-10 kids my age who lived around the block and all of them used to come to Geeta Aunties house. Our mothers had a topic to talk about and an art piece drawn by their kid to brag.
  • Kids loved it: I wouldn't lie, even though I was really bad at art, I had fun! I would draw whatever I liked, painted however I wanted and would get to meet my friends!
Yellow Class is creating the very same impact but at scale.
So here is a quick read on why we invested in Yellow Class, a platform with over 700,000 learners!

Silicon Valley Analyst Jeremiah Owyang vaguely reported that executives are scared of their employees “working part-time (but paid full salary)” and “even working on side hustle startups, while on a full-time salary,” a truly terrifying prospect that has chilled me to the bone. This may seem like just one fellow who has stepped on a giant rake, but Jeremiah has unfortunately burrowed into a core issue that’s going to come up as a result of the remote work being fairly mandatory during the pandemic.
Not all uses of time are equal, and this simple truth can make a big difference in life. People who spend their time doing more profitable work make more money. People who spend their time investing in others build better relationships. People who spend their time creating a flexible career enjoy more freedom. People who spend their time working on high-impact projects contribute more to society. Whether you want more wealth, more friendship, more freedom, or more impact, it all comes down to how you spend and value your time.
People say you shouldn’t ask your mom whether your business is a good idea. That’s technically true, but it misses the point. You shouldn’t ask anyone whether your business is a good idea. At least not in those words. Your mom will lie to you the most (just ‘cuz she loves you), but it’s a bad question and invites everyone to lie to you at least a little. It’s not anyone else’s responsibility to show us the truth. It’s our responsibility to find it. We do that by asking good questions. The Mom Test is a set of simple rules for crafting good questions that even your mom can't lie to you about.

Here are 3 simple rules to help you. They are collectively called (drumroll) The Mom Test:

1. Talk about their life instead of your idea
2. Ask about specifics in the past instead of generics or opinions about the future
3. Talk less and listen more
